Terms of Use

The rules for using RHI to run and take part in savings groups.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms of Use govern your use of the RHI application and services ("RHI", "we", "us"). By creating an account, joining or creating a group, or using any part of the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use RHI.

2. What RHI is, and what it is not

RHI is a record-keeping and administration tool for savings groups, stokvels, community savings circles and investment clubs. It helps a group track its members, contributions, meetings, documents and payouts.

  • RHI does not hold, receive, control or invest any money belonging to you or your group.
  • RHI is not a bank, insurer or registered financial services provider, and does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
  • Contributions and payouts take place directly between members and the group's own bank account. RHI only records what group administrators enter.
  • Decisions about how a group saves, invests or pays out are made by the group and its members, not by RHI.

3. Who may use RHI

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. You must give accurate, current information about yourself and keep it up to date.

4. Your account

  • Keep your login details confidential and do not share your account with anyone else.
  • You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.
  • Tell us immediately if you suspect that someone else has accessed your account.

5. Groups, roles and responsibilities

Group administrators and executives can add members, record contributions, capture attendance, upload documents and set payout sequences on behalf of the group. If you hold one of these roles, you confirm that you have the group's authority to capture that information, and that it is accurate and entered lawfully, including with members' consent where it is required.

Members are responsible for checking that their own contribution and payout records are correct, and for raising any dispute with their group.

6. Subscriptions and fees

  • RHI is offered on a subscription of R20 per month per member.
  • Subscriptions are paid through our payment provider, PayFast. Card and banking details are handled by the payment provider and are never stored by RHI.
  • Access to the app continues while the subscription is paid, and may be suspended if the subscription lapses.
  • Subscription fees are separate from any money you contribute to your group.
  • Refunds are dealt with in our Refund Policy.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use RHI to:

  • break any law, including laws against fraud, money laundering or the financing of illegal activity;
  • mislead, defraud or harm other members;
  • upload unlawful, harmful or infringing content;
  • access another person's account or data, or interfere with the security or normal operation of the service;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer the app.

8. Content you upload

You keep ownership of the documents, proof of payment, meeting notes and other content you upload. You give us permission to store and process that content only to run the service for you and your group.

9. Third-party services

RHI relies on trusted third-party providers for hosting, email delivery and payments, including PayFast. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to the parts of the service they provide.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep RHI available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may add, change or remove features, and may suspend the service for maintenance.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

RHI is provided "as is". To the fullest extent allowed by South African law, we are not liable for loss of money, loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of RHI, from a group's decisions, from information captured by group administrators or members, or from a payment made to or by a group.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, that cannot be limited by agreement.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if your subscription lapses. You may stop using RHI at any time, and you can request deletion of your account from your profile in the app.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The revised version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use RHI after a change means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute will be dealt with by the South African courts.
